Grants & support worth knowing about
There's more help available than most households realise. We'll tell you straight which of these you're likely to qualify for — and which you're not.
0% VAT on installations
Solar panels, battery storage and other qualifying energy-saving materials fitted in residential property currently carry zero-rated VAT, rather than the standard rate.
Heat pump grants
Government grants toward replacing fossil-fuel heating with an air source or ground source heat pump, available in England and Wales.
Energy Company Obligation
Support for eligible households toward insulation and heating upgrades, funded through the larger energy suppliers rather than by government directly.
Smart Export Guarantee
Get paid for the surplus you export. The rate is well below what you pay to import, though, so using your generation yourself pays considerably better.
Scheme names, eligibility rules and grant amounts change regularly, and several are means-tested or tied to your property's EPC rating. Treat this page as a starting point rather than a guarantee — we'll confirm what actually applies to you during the survey.
Using your own power beats any tariff
Grants help with the up-front cost, but the thing that actually changes your bill year after year is how much of your own generation you consume at home rather than export.
That's why we look at storage, hot water diversion and EV charging together rather than selling panels on their own — each one moves more of your generation out of the low-value export column and into the full-price column.
Straight answers at survey
When our assessor visits, they'll go through which schemes you actually qualify for based on your property, your EPC and your circumstances — including the ones you don't.
We'd rather size a system properly than promise funding that never arrives.
