Alpha ESS

Battery storage

Adding battery storage to your solar or microgeneration system lets you keep the energy you make. You then use it when your system isn't producing as much, or when demand is higher than what's being generated.

The economics

Why storing beats exporting

The most effective and economical way to use your own generated electrical power is to use it yourself. Buying electricity from the grid costs several times what you are paid for exporting your surplus back to it.

That gap is the whole argument for storage. Every unit you keep and use yourself is worth what you would otherwise have paid — not the small export rate you'd get for sending it away.

As energy production fluctuates through the day, batteries are the ideal solution. They charge when the sun is at its peak or the household isn't using all the energy produced, then supply it back in the evening when everyone is home and the sun has gone.

Alpha ESS — Smile B3 System

We fit Alpha Batteries in most instances. They're one of the world's leading specialist storage battery producers, dealing in over 80 countries worldwide and manufacturing for both domestic and commercial storage up to 100kWh per system.

The Smile B3 offers a fast, responsive and uninterrupted power supply. The 5 kilowatt single phase hybrid inverter features an intelligent modular design with 24/7 monitoring, both online and via the Alpha ESS app.

Systems start with either a 2.9kW or 5.0kW battery and smart inverter. You can then incorporate additional storage at a later stage by adding 2.9kW or 5kW lithium battery units, which are simple and easy to install — potentially taking your domestic system up to 30kW.

“I had a huge unexplained electric bill despite installing a full ground source system only a year ago. Qwest Industries installed an east/west system and 5 Kilowatt battery. I now have many days with zero electric costs.”
